AJ LOSES NO BIG DEAL IN BOXING

So on sat 2nd of June Anthony Joshua lost his first ever Professional Contest against the BIG under dog and un-favoured Mexican Andy Ruiz junior who is now Mexico’s first ever heavy weight champion.

So what went wrong?

Well he got beat by the better man on the night, someone who stood up in front of him, that came forward, someone that put AJ on his back foot and was willing to engage with him at close quarters, and counter punch AJ's leads. So Ruiz Boom got put down, but he got back up and threw his own punches, and put AJ down this all happening in the third round. AJ was certainly not engaging much in between the following Rounds and in the 7th Round the ref had seen enough and stopped the show once and for all.

Even though everybody was shocked that AJ had lost, personally I was not especially in the heavyweight division where one punch changes the game, and where a hungry fighter with a cause is a very dangerous man, trust me Ruiz was in a dangerous state of mind.

Bear also this also in mind Ruiz only defeat into this contest was against a respectable Heavy weight Joseph Parker, and Ruiz who had a good amateur record is well seasoned.

Ruiz got his chance by default as a late replacement and made the most of his chance.

One of my clients asked me for my opinion on this fight, I told him AJ is due a bad day in the office, and he will lose if he is not switched on. I am not saying he was not switched on, but I will say he was certainly thinking about “Bigger Fish” which is wilder and Fury in the Build up before this fight.

Also I recall the first few rounds when AJ fought a Smaller Boxer in Alexander Povetkin, who gave him something to think about until AJ got the measure of him, and also age caught up on Povetkins intensity.

No man is immortal and we all face defeat, but in all my years of boxing on the inside and outside I know one thing is for certain “Apart from Mayweather” you are going to have a bad day one day in boxing and this to me was AJ’s bad day, and he isn't the best I still overall make "Tyson Fury" the best out there at the minute, for a lot of reasons, but every heavyweight is dangerous who can punch.

Just like how Mr & Mrs Average have a very bad day in their working lives MR AJ had one of those it seems

What next for AJ?

Well no doubt he will sit down with his team and address things from business right down to the preparation, and see how back in place they can make this better, he will get another chance and will certainly will not want to lose again, as this will certainly take him out of the heavy weight radar and I am sure another fight as I believe there is a Clause for a rematch with Andy Ruiz will allow AJ  too defeat the man that inflicted his first professional loss.

It’s not a big deal that he has lost, but a massive learning curve for AJ, and a massive victory for underdogs and lets YOU know that, if your in the MIX you do have a chance to shine, even when people think you don’t.

I do think AJ will come back but I do ask

Can he out gun Wilder? And can he out skill Fury? One fight I would really like to see for the future is Andy Ruiz vs Dillain Whyte, styles make fights and think this one would be a “Storm”.
