1 LBS of Fat vs 1 LBS of Muscle
1 LBS of FAT vs 1 LBS MUSCLE
When it comes to a pound of muscle versus a pound of body fat, gym myths abound. Muscle is more metabolically active than fat, meaning it burns more calories when you are at rest, (Doing Nothing Awesome hey) but the level of this activity often is overstated. Another common statement, that 1 lb. muscle weighs more than 1 lb. fat, (If you hire a Personal Trainer/Gym instructor & he tell's you this RUN, they may be lacking in knowledge) brings smiles to exercise physiologists who point out that 1 lb. is 1 lb., regardless of what it's made up of. Still, pound for pound, muscle does take up less space than fat. Look at the above picture, they weigh the same but look different Right? Its amazing sometimes the amount of explaining you have to make & educating you have to do, to people who's Mind sets need re-wiring thinking that they are getting fatter because the SCALES tell them the dial hasnt moved, but yet there wardbrobe has to be changed because the clothes are slipping off there new frame. Many Good Coaches will tell you this, amongst there "Mary Loses 2 stone Stories" that not every client has brilliant "Scale Weight loss" because not eveyone comes with a heap of "FAT" to lose, and when dealing with performance athletes its another ball game, as example Boxers have to hit a weight category, so leaner, stronger frame, with less fat on it is the goal here.Getting your Mind-set, Lifesyle, Nutrition, Training Protocals, & staying in good health Right will help you change your ratio of Fat vs Muscle, make sure that your Body composition testing is done correctly & consistantly too.
